Meta Tag Generator
Fill in your page details and copy a full block of SEO and social meta tags.
<meta property="og:type" content="website" /> <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image" />
Why meta tags matter
Meta tags tell search engines and social platforms what your page is about. A well-written <title> and meta description can dramatically improve your click-through rate from search results, and Open Graph tags decide how your link looks when someone shares it on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Slack.
How to use
Enter your page title, description, canonical URL, and a social preview image URL (ideally 1200×630). The tool builds a ready-to-paste block including Open Graph and Twitter Card variants. Drop it into the <head> of your HTML.
Best practices
Keep titles under 60 characters and descriptions under 160. Use one H1 per page. Make each page's meta description unique — duplicated descriptions dilute your SEO.
+Do I need Twitter Card tags if I have Open Graph?
Twitter falls back to Open Graph, but adding explicit twitter:* tags gives you more control over how your card looks.
+What size should the og:image be?
1200×630 pixels is the safe default and works well across Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord and iMessage.
Getting title tags and descriptions right before you publish
Google typically renders somewhere between 50 and 60 characters of a title tag before truncating it with an ellipsis, and around 155 to 160 characters of a meta description, though the actual cutoff is pixel-based rather than a fixed character count, which is why two titles of the same length can wrap differently.
This generator lets you draft the title, description, and Open Graph fields together and see roughly how much room you have before search engines or social platforms start cutting text off, so you're not guessing at final display length after the page is already live.
Writing titles that survive truncation
Put the primary keyword and the most persuasive detail in the first 50 characters, since that is the part almost guaranteed to display regardless of device. Brand names are safer at the end of the title rather than the front, because Google sometimes rewrites titles anyway if it thinks the on-page H1 or context is a better match for the query.
Wide characters like W and M eat into your pixel budget faster than narrow ones like i or l, so a title of 58 characters full of capital letters can truncate earlier than a 62-character title made of lowercase text. Preview the rendered width rather than trusting a raw character count alone.
Descriptions are not a ranking factor but they win clicks
Meta descriptions do nothing directly for rankings, yet a well-written one raises click-through rate, which indirectly helps. Write it as a pitch to a human, include a concrete number or benefit, and avoid stuffing the same keyword three times since Google frequently ignores your description and pulls its own snippet from page content when it thinks that serves the query better.
A common mistake worth avoiding
Copying one meta description across dozens of near-duplicate pages is one of the most frequent issues flagged in Search Console under duplicate content warnings. Each template-generated page, like a product variant or location page, deserves at least one unique sentence referencing what makes that specific page distinct.
Open Graph fields deserve their own attention, not a copy-paste
og:title and og:description are read by Facebook, LinkedIn, and Slack unfurls, and they don't have to match your search-facing title tag word for word. A slightly more conversational og:title often performs better when a link is shared in a chat than the keyword-forward version built for search results, so treat the two as separate audiences even though they live in the same head block.
Testing before you ship
Before deploying, paste the generated tags into a rendering preview or view the page source after build to confirm the CMS or framework hasn't wrapped your description in extra whitespace, truncated it at a template limit, or duplicated the title tag, all of which happen more often than expected when meta fields are pulled from multiple data sources.
